In response to COVID-19, many public benefits and programs were adjusted to ensure families had continuous access to services. Since March 2020, the standard Medicaid re-eligibility determination has been paused to allow extended coverage to recipients. This extension will expire on March 31, 2023, when states will have to begin redetermining eligibility for Medicaid users. On April 1, 2023, the state will begin to disenroll ineligible Medicaid users. This will result in some populations losing their healthcare.
It is very important for any current Medicaid recipient to update their contact information now on their Your Texas Benefits account. This will ensure the state can send the redetermination packet if sent one. The letter will be in a yellow envolope with red writing. This must happen for the state to determine eligibility. The best way to do this is through YourTexasBenefits.com.
Texas will be reviewing over 5 million applications, so there may be delays in processing. Please keep copies of your records and ensure you complete the renewal information within 30 days of receiving it.
